What is art and who is an artist? I believe art is the act of making special, an attitude, a way of living...with openness, intention and wonder. Too many of us have lost the "art of living" in the busyness of our lives. Our culture does little to nourish and cherish the creativity within each of us. The time we will spend together is about rediscovering the spirit that dwells within each of us that longs to look at life from new perspectives, to see life with fresh eyes, to see problems as possibilities, to see closed doors as opportunities. It is about process rather than product...about surrendering our preconceptions and letting go of the voice that whispers or shouts 'but I'm not an artist". Set aside this time to be with the materials at hand, let go of things left undone and your concerns about tomorrow...be present in the moment. Join us on Sunday afternoons from 2-4 at the Turchin Center as you discover the artist within using materials to create collages ...to create a new vision of your life. Enjoy creating art in community with others, inspiring one another as you work with materials found in your home to create images. Open yourself to the possibilities. This course will be taught in the Turchin Center's education wing -- room 3200. Cost: $45 for members; $55 for non-members (minimum enrollment of ten.) Preregistration and prepayment required. To register, please visit www.tcva.org/register or mail in the form in this brochure. For information, call 262-3017.
WELCOME
Counseling for Faculty and Staff (CFS) provides counseling, consultation, training and referrals for concerns that impact work. Most people use CFS because they have had difficulty solving a problem in their personal or work life and are looking for additional options and resources. Counseling for Faculty and Staff offers free, confidential counseling, workshops or referrals to faculty, staff and their immediate families. We offer consultation and training to managers and supervisors, program directors and department chairs.
We are open Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm. Counseling for Faculty and Staff is a division of the Institute for Health and Human Services of Appalachian State University.
WE HAVE MOVED to University Hall to join ASU's Institute for Health and Human Services.
From campus, go right on Blowing Rock Road (Hwy. 321), take the first left after Staples on University Hall Drive, go to the top of the hill and park. When you enter the front door, look for the Registration desk to your left. A receptionist will seat you and get your counselor.
During fall and spring semesters, APPALCART SERVICE will be available every 30 minutes on the Pink route. In summer, catch the Red route. Go to http://www.appalcart.appstate.edu/EN/US/.../09 for route information.
Please see Contact Information if you would like to get in touch with CFS Staff.
